Incoming Rant

Here we are, deep in United States Income Tax Season,

Businesses and Employees filing their Yearly Income Taxes

with supporting receipts and documents

and forms on a variety of online filing platforms,

offering their services for FREE!

If one is eligible, and few are eligible,

and must pay a fee to file their taxes

from $15.00 to $20.00 to.... ?

Remember when the American Citizen could file their taxes for the cost of postage?

The States and IRS sent FREE Forms, booklets with instructions,

and income tax rates based on income,

the citizen could do their taxes on their own 

or bring them to a Tax Service that would do them for a fee,

which would come out of any Tax Refund;

Tax Form and Supporting Paperwork mailed off via

The United States Postal Service,

and then the Department of Revenue & Internal Revenue Service agents

would go over the forms, make corrections, issue refund checks

penalty letters, or process tax payment checks.

In the 21st Century it's online and none of the tax sites

do both Federal & State Taxes for Free,

it's one or the other, one is FREE, the other, has a fee,

and every year it's a new site that offers FREE Filing,

and so one more site has one's personal info,

and credit card info for online payments,

that's too many sites!

At any time any one or two or three could be hacked

and then ALL that personal info is out of its secure box.

Of course the American Taxpayer CAN go to

the IRS Website & their State's Dept of Revenue Site

to do their taxes online and for free

BUT

and it's a big BUTT,

those sites historically

have issues and are basically

unusable.

A Conspiracy between the U. S. Gov't and Online Tax Services?

Conspiracy Theorists say, Yes,

it's all about the Benjamin's, follow the money;

by law, everyone must file their Income Tax every year,

or risk interest added to back taxes owed,

arrest and imprisonment,

charging a Fee for filing taxes online,

those Online Tax File Services are...

MAKING BANK!

Do the math, think about it.

Doing your own taxes online on an automatic format

is like using the self check out at one's favorite store,

eliminating employees for YOUR convenience.

short of not paying one's taxes,

go to State & Fed Tax Form Sites,

and print out the blank forms,

the instructions and charts will be there as well,

or

go to the local library,

find the table with FREE

State & Federal Tax Forms and Information,

help oneself to FREE required forms

for their particular income situation,

take them home,

gather all the W2's and other forms

and do Taxes, for FREE,

mail the completed and proofed forms

and supporting documents to the

State Dept of Rev and the IRS,

the Professionals will do your taxes again for

FREE!

OK, not exactly FREE,

cost of paper, postage, taxes paid throughout the year,

personal time taken to do one's own taxes,

sticking it to the system,

having Government Employees do their job...
