Day of the Burn
Perfect weather for a last minute gay day trip to a man made ecological disaster of the
20th Century, over logging and sheep created the sandy acres in a seaside town,

Since 2021 a mini golf course, expanded parking, replica of the farmhouse, and an
electric train added for more fun on the playa; the old barn, the only original building
remaining standing is disassembled for renovation and rebuilding into a performance space,
big changes in two years for family activities, and the joint was rockin'!
Families on the mini links, wandering the dunes, exploring the gemstone maze,
shouts, laughing, good time sound track of children having a blast!
The reports out of Black Rock City, NV, torrential rains, winds, sheltering in place, Burners stuck,
the Burn postponed, miles of mud, oh! what a mess!
Celebs like Kevin Hart making their celebrity escapes, leaving all their stuff on the playa,
who's going to clean all that up?
From natural occurrence, downpours, to man made ecological disaster,
abandoned camps and trash sunk into the sloppy alkali muck,
similar to the the Desert of Maine's creation story!
The Burning Man Jr Burners
It all started with CAT's simple question, "Butcha, what are we doing for Burning Man...?"
"Uh... I don't know, what do you want to do...?" he replied.
"Go to the Desert of Maine." she confidently stated.
And a week later, what began as a small little outing of two Burners, became a
RAV4 Pumpkin packed front to back with some of the The Think Tank Gang for a quick jaunt to
the Desert of Maine and then lunch at the Copper Pot Restaurant in Portland, ME.
While atop the highest dune in the shade of desert pines and birches, CAT and Da Butcha
recited their traditional, annual, written for the occasion Poems honoring the event,
which they both attended back in the day, changed their lives.
After recitation the pieces BURNED!
Remnants buried tenderly under a desert birch and dune detritus,
to be reclaimed by Mother Earth and become One with the Desert of Maine.
Copper Pot luncheon, featuring COFFEE!!
Dolce Freddo Gelato on the way to Pooh's doorstep for a leg stretch and
fresh air break, then the home stretch to Dracule.
Afterwards, back at the Think Tank,
J da P and Little Paul safely returned to their Bradford digs,
CAT and Butcha wrote an Immaculate Corpse (Fold Over Poem)
honoring Burning Man Jr and played Crazy 8's with Ginger Mann,
who is the undisputed Crazy 8's Champion, CAT Second Place,
and Butcha won 1 hand, not a goose egg.
All in all a successful day honoring
