Calm Before the Riders on the Storm

Twenty-three: Final Morning in Maine

Vaca' reflections

as DaS Ginger Mann snoozes

and DaB's wide awake;

Cadillac Mountain

surrounded by other mounts

not as tall, famous;

Beatles Sea of Green

multiple canopy shades

as seen from above

stretching clear to the Atlantic,

uphill, down dale;  ponds sparkle

in high noon sunshine

small reservoirs tucked 'tween hills,

towns water supply;

Bar Harbor, Bangor,

downtowns bustle, Augusta...

not so much, biz off,

depressed Capital District,

how can this be?  It's states hub!

Tourism where's at,

seacoast range, beaches, small villes,

much more attractive.

alternative books,

authors, subjects, DVDs,

blue rays, vid' games, TOYS!

Wonderland of Pap Culture

since birth of record and film;

Super Used Books and

Goodwill, second hunting grounds

for rare compact discs.

OK as rental,

wouldn't buy one, it's

small things, dogs uphill, blind spots,

too low to roadway;

plus side: spacious trunk,

4 way adjustable wheel,

stereo sounds great!

Handles well 'round s'curves,

sticks to tar in wet weather,

and rear cam' assists

backing into parking slots

with other features,

mostly standard on

newer makes, model updates,

fitted with radar,

satellite, cell, flashing lights,

look like UFOs at night,

Pumpkin waits at Rays,

new alternator, oil,

prep'd for Inspector.

Coffee Break Cafe

bakery and jamery,

home baked ev'ry'thing;

Irish Eggs Benny,

corned beef hash, not smoked ham steak,

Greek Om' with bacon,

buttermilk biscuits,

grilled, not toasted, grape jelly,

made on premises!

Heartily dee-lish, hot, fresh,

and nutrish road sustenance,

coffees all around!

No plans 'cept to motor south

on Route 95;

got water, snax, tunes,

map, google, and fresh air,

what more do they need?

There's mucho space'oh 'tween here

an' there, what to do indeed!

Teeth brushed, last loo break,

bags packed, ready to go and

check out, Motel 6.
