Poet's Birthday Holiday Road Trip
with DaS Mann

Western Upstate New York Area
featuring, Niagara Falls & Lockport
with an appearance of, Leroy & Sharon Springs
and the Erie Canal
Let us begin 2022 with the final Poet's Holiday of 2021,
20th Anniversary Road Trip to Niagara Falls and beyond!
It was in August 2001 on a Solo Poet's Holiday Road Trip
that Obi Wan first visited The Falls,
on his way into Canada, Toronto, and a roll around The Great Lakes, camping out,
back into U. S, at Sioux Saint Marie, Can & US, crossed the timeline in the MI-UP,
ate some pasteys, and made it to Milwaukee, WI, in time for a friends wedding;
return trip by way of Cleveland, OH, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, interesting,
and onto home by, September 8, 2001;
and we all know what happened three days later,
we won't get into it here.
So, it was an Anniversary Road Trip,
sans the ride over the Rainbow Bridge, for obvious reasons.
Our dauntless heroes made the most of their confinement to U. S. Soil,
and explored a few spots within a few minutes drive of their old school motel,
which we will come to in due time.
First, we must pick up the rental vehicle from, Enterprise,
and, as has been their norm in recent years,
the vehicle reserved months before
was not the vehicle that was rented,
we'll get to that momentarily,
let us gather our wits and hold on fast,
mind must learn to roam,
just as the gypsy queen must do
we're gonna hit the road!

Prelude: Shake Down Cruise
Birthday Eve visit
with Mum an' Da', Hanghim, MA,
walk Hull - Nantasket
high tide receding,
revealing sandy shoreline
hidden below waves
adding rental to EZPass Account
concrete boardwalk stroll
listen to rocks roll down beach,
access steps buried
under breakwater boulders
and round stone paths to water
perfect day for jaunt
big, white, puff cloud against blue,
seventy degrees
Jakes Seafood Take Out
to their patio, or home,
inside opens late
Harborside Cafe seating
soakin' up Autumnal rays
coffee ice cream and
carrot cake Oreos...yum
with candle and song.

Ron & Barbs' B-Day Lunch and Early Christmas Pillow

Altima, white, with gremlins,
not, RAV, like reserved
cuz, Hyundai Kona
all electric vehicle
was there in gas stead
would have to return
to retrieve car set last month
took roomy sedan
and DaS Mann second driver,
plus discount apology;
shake down cruise to earth
incognito burrito
doesn't self destruct.
let's go learn things
Conversate with 'rents
see again in couple weeks
65th Anniv'
wedded bliss, six kids, grand kids,
great, gather at second girls
home...chaos will reign!
Afternoon sans sibs' welcome
good time had by all.

cross rivers, thru fields
Berkshires and Adirondacks
Pioneer, Hudson
valleys, plains, deltas
railroads, trails, and water craft
farms silos barns cows
cornfields and cemeteries
side by side by tollway side
roll up to Driftwood
4:15 p. m. check in
just past ETA.

room bare bones lodgings
two beds, fridge, micro, tv
thrift store furnishings
no artwork on walls
heater doesn't work, air does
shower fan does not
new carpet, fresh paint, and blinds
changed from 'single' at discount
car and room discounts
and another birthday at
Olympia sup'
fam' breaks out in song
diners join in, cheers, applause
Poet confesses
he too celebrate b-day
room bursts into song again
discounts and singing
signs from God, In the Right Place
Trip Blessed to be GRRRR-ATE!
