Took some time off work,

this is Solo Vacation,

Obi's Staycation;

kick around Lowtown,

wander historic canals,

downtown open shops;

abandoned, rotting,

mills, renovation projects,

roof shrubbery felled,

replacement windows, walls, doors,

luxury office - condos;

riverside walkway

extension past reno'd mills

to grand, Bridge Street Bridge;

breathing deep fresh air

camera in hand, storms part,

record rivers rush,

wildfowl, terrapin,

objects de arte as lens views;

Kerouacville streets,

footsteps of revolution,

with eye of tourist.

Brunch Time!

Kerouac Park break

post stroll weed strewn canal

lock still holds water;

abandoned mill shells,

notice board and wire fence

reno' imminent;

Brew'd Awakening,

Abraham, Curious George,

bagel and bevvie

brekkie with Jack's writings,

yell' jacket for company;

munch salmon, onion,

tomato, capers, cream cheese,

'nana drink chaser;

verse and paragraphs

becomes habit...addiction...

seek...ever...eee...thing...

Walk up Merrimack,

find Concord's car park shoreline

overgrown walkway

orange net catches

falling debris and hazmat,

ecological;

rivers confluence

protected from pollution

wild life returns,

fish, swimmers, boaters, enjoy

sand filtered mountain waters

flow to Atlantic

Prune Point and Cubed Beach at mouth,

dune-marsh'land, breakers,

basement penstock gates

culverts all remain of mill,

Tsongas Arena

stands in it's stead with parkland,

national urban treasure;

asphalt walk, goats feed,

no carbon footprint 'cept...BAM.
